Pre-marital counselling is provided for the persons and couples with developmental disabilities and genetic disorders. Possible risks and options like antenatal diagnosis and alternatives are discussed.
Disabilities are diagnosed as early as possible and appropriate interventions are done immediately. Treatable causes are managed as protocol. Relevant therapies like occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, psychotherapy and special education are given.
Pre schooling is done to integrate differently abled children to the mainstream schooling. Pre writing, pre reading, pre arithmetic skills, attention, sitting tolerance etc. are focused.
Parents are the therapist, teacher and major stakeholder of the children. Awareness is created regarding children, her condition, home therapies, responsibilities, rights and assistances
Proud parents make remarkable difference in the child’s life and even in the society. Necessary counselling, activities and programmers are conducted to create acceptance and thereby proud parents.
Differently abled person should be considered and made feel like a person with identity first rather than labeling them. They should be empowered to make their own decisions and take risks. They should be well aware about their condition, need, strength weaknesses and rights. They are also empowered to ask for help, opportunities and avail resources.
Disability is associated with a lot of misconceptions and Social stigmas. A lot of awareness and community activities are done to change the attitude and perceptions to build an inclusive and differently abled friendly society
"What after us" is a major concern of parents of differently abled children. A system to address the concerns of these children and family during and after the life of the parents is the integral part of community living.
